The Regression of Great Sage Riddle (Japanese title: Daikenja Riddle no Jikan Gyakko) is a brand new fantasy anime that literally just premiered yesterday. It’s actually a “light anime,” which is a cool new style where they use the original manga art and animate it directly.
The story follows Riddle, a powerful Great Sage who sees the world ending because of a creepy group called the “Malice Box.” To save everyone, he uses a secret spell to travel back 1,000 years into his own past. He wakes up as a kid but keeps all his insane magic and knowledge. Now he’s trying to change the future while protecting the people he lost the first time—especially the heroine, Norn. It’s got a very cool “second chance” vibe but with way higher stakes than your typical Isekai.
