Upon returning to Konohagakure, the young ninjas celebrate the defeat of a group believed to be members of the Akatsuki. However, Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno have very different feelings. Naruto envies the congratulations from his teammates’ families and misses the presence of his own parents. Sakura, on the other hand, is angry at her parents, whom she finds shameful, and wishes she had never had them. They clash due to their opposing ideals, but they face a more pressing problem when the masked Madara Uchiha suddenly appears and takes them to an alternate world.
In this world, Sakura’s parents are considered heroes for sacrificing their lives ten years earlier to protect Konohagakure from the Nine-Tailed Beast’s attack. Consequently, Naruto’s parents, Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, are alive and well. Unable to return home or find the masked Madara, Naruto and Sakura remain in this new world, enjoying the changes they’ve always longed for. While everything seems to be going well for the two ninjas, an unexpected threat emerges, forcing Naruto and Sakura not only to fight for Konohagakure in the alternate world, but also to find a way back to their own world.
