The wait is finally over—the anime adaptation of Witch Hat Atelier (Tongari Bōshi no Atorie) literally just premiered today! After being delayed from 2025 to make sure the art looked perfect, it’s officially part of the Spring 2026 lineup. It’s being animated by BUG FILMS, and the visuals are every bit as detailed and “hand-drawn” as the manga fans hoped for.
The story follows Coco, a girl from a small village who has always dreamed of being a witch. In this world, you have to be born with magic—or so everyone thinks. After Coco accidentally sees a traveling witch named Qifrey drawing a magic circle, she tries it herself and accidentally turns her mother to stone. Qifrey decides to take her in as his apprentice at his atelier to help her find a way to save her mom, while also protecting her from the “Brimmed Caps”—a group of dark wizards who use forbidden magic.
