The wait is over for the "spiritual successor" to Symphogear—Ghost Concert: Missing Songs literally just premiered yesterday! It’s an original project from Noriyasu Agematsu (the creator of Symphogear and Uta no Prince-sama), and it’s being animated by Studio ENGI. As you’d expect from this team, it’s a high-energy mix of supernatural battles and idols singing for their lives.
The story is set in 2045, a future where human singing is actually prohibited because of a weird virus that infects people through music. We follow Seria Aiba, a girl who can see spirits. She ends up meeting the ghost of Cleopatra VII, who possesses her body so they can perform "Song Battles" together. They’re part of an organization called TERA that uses these "Great Ghosts" (including historical figures like Joan of Arc and Marie Antoinette) to fight back against a digital music AI that’s trying to replace humanity.
